Nira Community Development Foundation (NIRA CDF) was established in 2004 as social research circle mainly concerned with socioeconomic situation of the rural communities. During its formative stage, the organization was youths centric, focused on addressing social vices associated with youth’s vagrancy such as unemployment, drugs abuse and other petty crimes. However, as the organization grows, it keeps on broadening its focus and expanding its reach while leaving indelible footprints of pragmatic interventions across many sectors. NIRA CDF was registered with the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2009 as Incorporated Trustees under the Corporate Affairs Commission via certificate Number CAC/IT/NO.31770.
The registration accords the organization legal status to engage with multilateral entities, including International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) through partnership, and to receive funding support for the implementation of developmental interventions across sectors and different parts of the country.
The organization was built on the solid foundation of service to humanity as it continued to thrive on its critical pillars of dynamic leadership and good governance, team work, community mobilization and participation and partnership. The main areas focus of the organization are; enhancing the resilience of vulnerable communities to the impacts of climate change, building sustainable peace, social cohesion and resilience of communities affected by conflict and increasing access to functional education, health and nutrition services as well as labour force participation to accelerate Human Capital Development ( HCD).
